French designer and photographer — Hedi Slimane fuses rock attitude with refined minimalism, redefining the essence of modern elegance.
Fashion somehow, for me, is purely and happily irrational.

From a young age, Hedi Slimane developed a fascination with fashion and photography, deeply influenced by rock culture and music. While studying, he began to explore design and experiment with the aesthetics of the male silhouette, laying the foundation for his future vision.
Slimane studied at the École du Louvre, a prestigious art school in Paris, where he trained in art history and classical art. He later specialized in fashion and design, allowing him to merge his artistic background with his passion for clothing and creative expression.
Slimane undertook internships and worked with various designers, gradually developing his distinctive style that fused minimalism, sharp tailored silhouettes, and a strong rock influence.
He graduated in Art History from the École du Louvre in Paris in 1992, after which he worked as an assistant to fashion consultant Jean-Jacques Picart.

Hedi Slimane is renowned not only as a fashion designer but also as a visionary photographer. His black-and-white photography, marked by raw intimacy and a cinematic aesthetic, has been showcased in international exhibitions and acclaimed publications.
Through his lens, Slimane captures youth culture, music, and timeless portraits that mirror his signature artistic universe.

“I had to go on a diet just to fit into Hedi’s jeans.”
| Karl LagerfeldClosely tied to music, nightlife, and Slimane’s black-and-white photography, the movement spread from Paris to London, New York, and Tokyo, becoming a global symbol of youth culture and defining an era of menswear. Karl Lagerfeld famously remarked: “I had to go on a diet just to fit into Hedi’s jeans.”
During his Dior Homme years, Hedi Slimane reshaped menswear with razor-thin silhouettes and a rock-inspired edge. This gave rise to the Hedi Boys, young men who adopted his style as both fashion and lifestyle, defined by skinny jeans, sharp jackets, leather and boots.
